COUP Procurement Awards 2019 - ENTER



This year’s Gala Dinner will be taking place at Athena, the beautiful and historic venue in Leicester, on Thursday 5th September 2019.


For the first time, NEUPC will be hosting the ‘COUP Procurement Awards 2019.’ 

Recognising excellence and celebrating the achievements of university procurement professionals and teams. The deadline for entries is now closed and the winners will be announced at the gala dinner 5th September.



There are six categories for the prestigious awards:


 1.    Outstanding University Procurement Team

This award recognises the power and potential of a focused and unified approach to procurement initiatives, looking at leadership, communication, innovation, collaboration and a collective team ethic and approach to deliver excellence in public services. Recognition is given based on the accomplishments of the team in relation to its size and the complexity of its procurement activities.


 2.    Sustainable Procurement Initiative

This Award recognises the crucial role procurement plays in driving and delivering sustainable procurement within the university. Honouring best-in-class examples of driving internal engagement to roll out sustainable procurement. Looking at resource allocation, Buyer CSR toolkits and guidelines, procurement policy and supporting documentation, capacity building actions, integration of CSR criteria into procurement processes and performance reviews.


 3.    Innovative Procurement Award

In the demanding world of university procurement, the need for new solutions, fresh thinking and brilliantly executed ideas has never been more important. The entry criteria are simple – the innovation can come from any quarter and can be of any scale, with a strong potential for replication and scaling up, but it must be a genuine advance within HE procurement and must be compliant with existing procurement legislation.


 4.    Emerging Talent - Apprentice Award

This award recognises emerging procurement talent at apprentice level and universities investing in the creation of HE sector future procurement skills and capacity. The award will be given to an apprentice that has been nominated by their Manager for their exceptional contribution to the procurement team’s performance, demonstrating personal drive, commitment and enthusiasm for a procurement career.


 5.    Sustainable Supplier Award

It’s your opportunity to nominate a supplier who has worked with you to improve the sustainability of their products or services and has delivered measurable improvements in the sustainability of their product or service. Suppliers will be shortlisted and contacted to develop a case study which can then be circulated To HEPA board or HE Responsible Procurement Group. The winner will be announced at the COUP Gala dinner to which the shortlisted suppliers will be invited.


 6.    Life-Time Achievement Award

Those who have made an exceptional difference to our community rightly deserve to be thanked. Recognition is based not only on long term commitment, but also the benefits that the individual has brought to their team(s), institution(s), and wider contribution to the sector. You are invited to nominate individuals who have made an outstanding contribution over their career within their university and the UK HE sector over a period of over 25 years.
