Success for NEUPC Members at the GO Awards 2020

Congratulations are due to three of our member institutions for their entries into the UK National Government Opportunities (GO) Awards 2020.

Both the University of Leicester and Loughborough were separately finalists in the ‘Project of the Year (below £20m value) – Other Organisations’ category, with Loughborough University being awarded Highly Commended.  Their entry focussed on a corporate and workwear tender which was led by both he procurement team and Creative and Print Services department, and aimed to replace their “broken, mistrusted and inefficient sourcing process”.  Working collaboratively, the teams engaged with colleagues across the institution to select a reliable supplier which met the varying needs of all areas.  Led by Category manager Ian Williamson, Ian comments “The level of collaboration was exceptional and the award bears testimony to what can be achieved when parties with diverse requirements co-operate to achieve a result which benefits all”.

The University of Birmingham were finalists in two categories, ‘Team of the Year – Other Organisations’ and also ‘Best Environmental Impact’ – and came Highly Commended in the latter for their University-wide sustainability review and following implementation of a Sustainability Strategy. Sustainable Procurement is one of the five key themes of the University’s long-term procurement strategy. Through collaborative working and a consistent commitment to improvement across the organisation, Birmingham obtained Flexible Framework Level 5, the highest level attainable.  Look out for more information on Birmingham’s successes in our next edition of sustainABLE, which will be published in the Autumn.
