An Interview With...

Meet Lisa Pickup, our dedicated PA and Administrator in the team, who’s been a valued part of the organisation for over 12 years. Known for her reliability, warm approach, and ability to juggle just about anything thrown her way, Lisa plays a key role in keeping things running smoothly. In this spotlight, she shares what drives her, her love of travel, and a few surprising facts you might not know.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I genuinely enjoy building strong connections with our members and stakeholders – there’s something really rewarding about developing trust, solving problems together, and seeing those relationships grow over time. It’s all about collaboration and making sure everyone feels supported and valued.

What’s been your proudest moment or biggest achievement at work so far?
It’s hard to pinpoint just one moment, but I’m really proud of the strong relationships I’ve built across the organisation – both with our members and within our team. I work closely with the Managing Director and every team member, which gives me a unique insight into how everything connects. Being a trusted point of contact and playing a part in keeping things running smoothly is something I take real pride in.

What does a typical day look like for you?
There’s really no such thing as a “typical” day! Each one brings new challenges and different tasks – it definitely keeps me on my toes and makes the job interesting.

What’s one thing your colleagues might not know about you?
I have a real passion for travelling and have been lucky enough to explore a wide range of amazing places – from the beaches of Barbados and Bermuda to the culture-rich cities of France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Thailand, as well as America, Dubai, the UK, and even the former Yugoslavia. I love discovering new cultures, meeting people, and experiencing something different in every destination. And, a fun fact that might surprise some – maths was actually my favourite subject at school! I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of working things out and finding logical solutions.

If you weren’t working in this role, what would your dream job be?
I’d love to be a midwife! There’s something incredibly special about being part of that life-changing moment for families.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure or famous person, who would it be and why?
Meryl Streep – not just because she’s a phenomenal actress, but because she’s a powerful and inspiring advocate for women. Her award speeches always strike a chord.

What’s your go-to productivity hack or favourite way to stay organised?
Lists, lists, and more lists! I make one every day – for both personal and work life – and carry them over as needed. They help me stay focused, prioritise effectively, and maintain some sanity in the chaos of everyday life.
