✨ Spotlight On… Laura Haslin ✨

💼 What’s your role at NEUPC and how long have you been here?
I’m the Marketing & Communications Manager at NEUPC, and I’ve been here since 2023. My role focuses on telling the NEUPC story—showcasing the value we deliver, supporting members and suppliers, and bringing our events, frameworks, and collaborative work to life.

🎨 What do you enjoy most about your job?
The variety and creativity! No two days are ever the same—one minute I’m designing event materials, the next I’m writing a communications plan or analysing engagement data. I also love working with such a supportive team and the wider UKUPC network. Everyone genuinely cares about delivering value, which makes the job hugely rewarding.

🏆 What’s been your proudest moment or biggest achievement at work so far?
Delivering NEUPC Connect is a standout moment—it brought together so many elements: marketing, design, logistics, member engagement, supplier relationships and strategy. Seeing it all come to life and hearing the positive feedback made all the hard work worthwhile. I’m also proud of how far our member communications and reporting tools have come, especially the Value for Money reports.

📅 What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day is a mix of content creation, design work, planning, and collaborating with colleagues. I might be drafting member updates, working on event collateral, reviewing social media, updating the website, producing reports, or hosting meetings. And usually Luis—my very loyal (and very nosy!) working-from-home sidekick 🐶—is involved in most of my calls.

🍽️ What’s one thing your colleagues might not know about you?
I’m a huge foodie and love cooking, especially big family meals. Outside of work I spend a lot of time at football with my two boys ⚽️⚽️, and if I’m not at a match, I’m probably planning the next meal!

🌟 If you weren’t working in this role, what would your dream job be?
Something creative and people-focused—probably running my own little café ☕️, or working in food, hospitality, or events full-time.

🗺️ If you could have dinner with any historical figure or famous person, who would it be and why?
David Attenborough. His storytelling, passion, and the experiences he’s had would make the most incredible dinner conversation 🌍.

⚡ What’s your go-to productivity hack or favourite way to stay organised?
I stay organised by keeping everything moving. I focus on what needs doing in the moment, jump on quick wins 💡, and keep communication flowing so nothing gets stuck. I’m very much a “get things done as they come in” person, which helps me stay on top of multiple projects at once.
